| | | Re: Tracks and signs images needed. This seems an appropriate thread. Any clues on this dropping found over the weekend in a garden in the English Midlands.
about 4cms long, quite soft otherwise, containing a lot of beetle fragments - I can't work out what the other things are - possibly include some snail shell fragments?
I'd go for hedgehog except this was attached to netting about 60 cms above the soil! |

| | | Re: Tracks and signs images needed. It looks a lot like something I spotted here a while ago which people seemed to think was a corvid pellet. If it was sicked out by a crow or similar, that would account for why it was on netting. Those beetle cases and stones look very familiar. |

| | | Re: Tracks and signs images needed. Here's a few more badger pics. If they're duplicating, please feel free to remove.
Firstly, a badger trail showing the registered tracks (rear feet on fore feet) and the prints offset from the centre line. The ruler is 30cm long.
And here's two more for the badger dung collection, showing a diet of wheat from the fields.

| | | Re: Tracks and signs images needed. Mark,
I don't know if you are still collecting signs, but there is a badger sett in my garden and in May there was lots of hair and bedding just outside the entrance.
There are regularly new signs of digging but no prints as yet.

| | | Re: Tracks and signs images needed. Thanks Jenny, and thanks BWM. All tracks and signs pics are still welcome - even those which arent to be included in the mammal a-z.There are so many variations of tracks/signs theyre all still useful on this thread as reference material

| | | Re: Tracks and signs images needed. Hi,
Pleased to be able to add to this thread, these are Green Woodpecker droppings.
If you take them home and dissect them on the kitchen table.....you will make your wife mad. They are full of ants.

| | | Re: Tracks and signs images needed. Hi again,
Have you considered the fox as an artist, More Tracey Emin than Hirst. Well I dunno, seems more Dali to me. Don't understand modern art.
Good fox poop though.

| | | Re: Tracks and signs images needed. The apparent lack of bones puts me off birds, how tightly compact are they? they look like loose fir. Likely from a cat or fox as you say, it looks like rat hair too..

| | | Tracks in the snow Hoping someone can help me, this is my 1st post!
Unusual (to me anyway ) footprints in my garden this morning, in the snow.
Approx 2" long, in a V shape, one either side, possibly with a little mark where the two meet. Sorry, just discovered camera not working otherwise I'd have posted a piccie.
I'm assuming it's some kind of deer? It came over from next door (6' fence) and must have gone over to garden on other side. We do live on edge of country but I haven't seen deer near houses before.
What really puzzles me is that it was a single line of tracks?
I may have to stay up tonight to look out
Thanks in anticipation. |
