Dont get your nose too close just in case its Mink

It looks quite fresh in the pic you posted, so you should easily be able to tell for sure...

Mark, have been and sniffed...it doesn't smell much, slightly fragrant, not unpleasant!
Photo of it in situ. There used to be these signs on all the white stones in this part of this stream, but this is the first I've seen for a while

Fallow Deer droppings

In summer they can often be in 'lumps' like this.

These are from a Fallow fawn of about 6 weeks old.

Excellent Si, i`ll add those to the Fallow Deer page now

Do you have any pics of Fallow tracks? Thats something we could do with to make the Fallow Deer page a bit more complete...

Re: Tracks and signs images needed.

Hello matey.

Yep, I do. Might upload them later on tonight or tomorrow, trying to do about 10 things at once at the mo.

Trying to get a good shot of a track isn't as easy as I'd thought. See plenty of them but not many good enough for a pic to have as an example on here.

Nice one. Any pics will do for starters, we can always replace them with better ones as we get them. No rush though mate if youre doing other stuff, just post `em when you get time

Re: Tracks and signs images needed.

An empty emperor moth cocoon...

Not sure if it's empty because the moth left or because it was predated or parasitised.

Re: Tracks and signs images needed.

More excellent contributions, cheers Si,Dave and Deer Boy

There seems to be a problem with the editing links on the mammal pages, i`ve pm`d Stu about it, so once its sorted i`ll add the Red Deer tracks to the relevant page.

Re: Tracks and signs images needed.

This is a fairly reliable indication that there are Red Squirrels about...

Sorry Mark, I couldn't resist it!

This was taken on the Isle of Wight and was the closest I got to a Red Squirrel photo. I did manage to see one but was driving at the time so no pic. All the peanuts I put out were eaten by jays and jackdaws!
