| | | Baby Field Mouse Found I wonder if any one can help? Today (Saturday 14th June) a very small, and what i believe to be, field mouse fell from my shed roof to the floor. About 6 foot. I picked it up and held it till it was walking around again and had its eyes open. I then put it back up on the shed roof as it is over grown with ivy and believe that there is a nest there. I came back into the garden about an hour later to find the poor little oeoeoeoeoeoe back on the floor again!
I have no taken it inside and am keeping it warm but it seems very doscile and wont open its eyes. Just seems to be asleep all the time. I have tried to feed it some raisens and nuts but i think it is too yound to feed on solids yet?! I am no expert but it doesnt have very much of its teeth in its mouth yet. What can i feed it with? Milk? The mouse is about 20mm long (not much bigger than the end of your thumb. I hope that anyone can help cos i feel real sorry for the little guy (which i have named rufus, after his antics today )
Regards Ian |

| | | Re: Baby Field Mouse Found Hello, welcolme to WAB.
I have read on some recent posts that kitten milk is better than normal milk as cows milk is too rich. Soak some up in a small piece of sponge and see if the mouse licks if off. Also if it's big enough to eat solids at any time, try giving it some wild berries (blackberries) and the kind of nuts you would normaly give to birds. Don't give up, I'm sure someone with better knowlage will help you shortly. Good luck |

| | | Re: Baby Field Mouse Found Try ringing the RSPCA. A vet I know told me that they sometimes endorse the treatment of and therefore may pay for the care of, injured wild animals. They may offer good advice, but they are busy and in London the advice I've had has sounded really cruel (to me). So be prepared if you try this. |

| | | Re: Baby Field Mouse Found Thank you guys, I have bought some Lactol which is small animal "mothers" milk so to speak. After a couple of attemps the little fellow has taken some out of a rubber teated bottle so i am quite happy at the moment. Thank you for the advice and i will keep anyone who is interested updated as we go along.
I will post some pictures when i get time.
Thank you once again |

| | | Re: Baby Field Mouse Found The poor little mouse died last night. Took his last breath in my hand. It was very sad. We tried our best for him but i think falling off the roofdidn't do him any favours. Poor little oeoeoeoeoeoe.
Thank you for your help and advice.
Many Regards Ian |
