| | Red Deer Calves Well it's June again & that means one thing for me hours out on the moors looking for red deer calves.
I got up at 5:00 on friday hoping that there might be some early June arrivals & wasn't disappointed.
After spending the morning searching i had seen loads of red deer,1 roe deer, a hare & a heron but no calves
Then i had two close encounters with two different stags.
The first stag was 2 meters away from me as i stood in some bracken & the second stag was with a big herd of hinds.
After searching all day i was just about to go home when i decided to check one more place, the same place i saw my first ever red deer calves last year.
When i got there there was a group of hinds sat down so i tried to get some pics, then one of the hinds came towards me & stopped.
As she stood there i heard a cry then saw it a baby red deer calf then out the corner of my eye i saw another
They were so tiny & hearing them cry out for there mums was so cute.
To see one was great but two was amazing, getting up early & walking all day was well worth it in the end.
I will post some pics soon |

| | | Re: Red Deer Calves That sounds like an amazing encounter.
I have seen plenty of Red Deer and more grown up youngsters but never really young calves.
Please do post some photos.
