| | | Re: badger and a fox together you can sometimes get a large Badger sett where a Fox could be living in part of it, they will tolerate each other unless the Badger is hungry when it will fight a Fox for the food and usually win, or if young are concerned when Badgers can be a bit ruthless, I have also recently learned they will also attack chickens and have been known to do nearly as much damage as a Fox if one gets into a chicken pen, We have a local Badger and we leave out Peanuts, Sultanas or other dried fruit, fruit sticks that we get for the Blackbirds etc, they also like Oats or similar,

| | | Re: badger and a fox together I have a small and runty vixen that turns up in the evenings. She will eat peanuts etc but chiefly loves sandwiches. She usually disappears once the badgers arrive and seems wary of them. I feed molasses as well to keep up their immune systems. |

I bet that was a sight
On "Wild China" a BBC programme they filmed a fox and a bear out foraging/hunting to-gether, it was good to watch They even looked alike and had similiar coats !!
I expect your new housing estate has been built on their land |

| | | Re: badger and a fox together It must have been magical to see them both together! You are really lucky. Where I live, we don't have either, and when ever I go across to England/ Wales/ Ireland I never seam to see either of them!
And welcome to WAB! |

| | Re: badger and a fox together Hi folks,
I'm new to this forum too, having googled 'badgers and foxes together'....
My husband and I moved to South Devon just over a year ago, and have been feeding foxes opposite our drive - which is open ground - every night since. However, a couple of weeks ago a badger turned up afterwards, and we have had one or two visit every night since. I put dog food down one side of a lamp-post, and peanut butter sandwiches and peanuts the other. Once badger arrives (between 10.45 and 11.30 p.m.) the foxes come back, and they eat only a few feet apart, sometimes swopping to the other pile of food. We notice that the fox is more wary of the badger, but the other night (when I was putting the food out at different times, and the badger came early) a smallish badger started eating the fox food as the peanuts were not there yet. One of the large fox cubs was then brave enough to pull the badger away by his tail, but soon ran off when the badger turned towards him! Since then, all the foxes have given the badgers a wide berth, but still eat together. Must have had a lecture from Mum or Dad! We have also seen both foxes and badgers (one at a time), trot up our drive, put their 2 front paws on our bird bath - which is a foot off the ground - and drink. It is so magical to see them all, especially together, and we feel we are extremely priviledged. Both live in the same copse, and obviously have learnt to exist side-by-side. It's great to hear that others are fortunate to witness similar. |

| | | Re: badger and a fox together I always thought that a Bogart was a person who failed to pass on the spliff and hogged it, so named after Humphrey Bogart who always had a cigarette in his mouth, or is that another country legend? |

| | | Re: badger and a fox together Must be fun watching the two of them feeding. We don't get badgers; did have foxes, they had a home under next door's shed and I found a young cub asleep in my greenhouse one day.
By the way, it's a BoGGart - mischievous imp in Ireland and north country! They supposedly took on animal shapes. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
