Some older WABers will I am sure remember Tufty the Squirrel.
Tufty the Squirrel was the invention of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, a mascot for a new road safety initiative for under-fives launched in 1961. More than 60,000 children joined the Tufty Club (me included  ) and the number of road accidents fell for the first time in ten years.
Now it seems that Tufty may no longer need to know how to cross the road. A 375ft Red Squirrel bridge is planned to cross the new Aberdeen bypass to protect the animal from heavy traffic. 300ft bridge to save Tufty Club - Scotland on Sunday
Now where is that Tufty Club badge?

That's good news.
Wish more like this was done for all wildlife-eg badger tunnels and dormouse crossings etc.
Tufty-yep I remember it but I was VERY young!
