| | | Re: beavers to be reintroduced to scotland :) Will be interesting to see how much dam building they do in Scotland. I've seen North American beaver dams and they are enormous. Whilst I am in favour of the reintroduction, I can see repercussions for landowners who suddenly find they own a large lake!
Anyone know if the escaped beaver on the River Thames was recaptured? Some suggestions that it might try to block the river |

The people in the know knew its location because of some of the trees it had knawed down. Shame it would have been nice to have beaver on the Thames along with otter and water vole.
Good news about the planned releases in Scotland and I see also that the Welsh are trying to do the same.

| | | Re: beavers to be reintroduced to scotland :) This is excellent news, I was in the Knapdale area of Argyll earlier in the year, it's beautiful and seems ideal for Beavers....Lots of woods and water... I loved the area that much i'm going back in June. No doubt i'll be going again next year now

| | | Re: beavers to be reintroduced to scotland :) There are already beavers living outside zoos in Scotland - in supposedly
secure sites Aigas Field Centre - Visit Scotland’s only European beaver watching hide at Aigas!
They were also released, again in supposedly secure site in the late 800s
on the Isle of Bute - don't know hwat happened to them though.
My cousin who lives up that way told me there are more than just the
above contained beavers, though when I looked on google a
week or so back I didn't find any reference. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
