young badger found dead

Whilst walking my dog this morning I came across a dead badger and it has been playing on my mind as to whether I should report it knowing they are a protected species. It was about the size of a curled up cat and it was in the area of what I assume is a badger set. There are many holes of various sizes and also rabbit droppings present. It is not close to a road, it is an area of farmland with a footpath and is located behind Hockley Woods, Essex. I was wondering what possible causes of death there are in such a situation.

Please avoid giving badger set locations. other less caring people would be intrested.

There is a link in the Badgerland web site where you can download a special Badger death record form with the option to email it back or print and post, they ask for as much information as possible,they also do an accident record form and a sett record form to be used only by the area group
