Black Rabbit in North Yorkshire

Hello

I have just joined (today in fact).

I wanted to say that I have seen a large black bunny my way to work, driving by Bug Farm on the Warlingham/Woldingham border. It was running around a local field. Two weeks ago we were walking the dog over near Reigate and saw another black bunny. I have to say I had until then thought all wild bunnies were brown in colour with white tails...

I wonder do they get picked off easily by other animals or humans because of their colour (not exactly camoflagued are they)?

I agree, black rabbits would seem to be at a disadvantage compared to the normal ones.

There seems to be a few black rabbits amongst the wild rabbit population around the Horsham area. I have seen a few adults over the last couple of years but I see far more youngsters so I expect I will see quite a few of them over the coming months.
