burrows
is it possible that rabbits could burrow about 2 metres away from a fox earth?

ive found large holes with fox droppings outside- then about 2 metres away there is smaller holes with rabbit droppings everywhere?

Yes its quite possible, or foxes may have been enlarging the existing holes of the rabbit warren either to hunt them or for a den. Its common for badgers and rabbits to live like this as well.
