Burrow in Garden

I have found a small hole burrowed in my garden. The hole is about 2 cm's in diameter. I live in the country with a small brook at the bottom of the garden. I haven't seen any furry creatures in my garden or near the hole. I am just wondering what it might be. I hope it is not the dreaded RATS.

2cm? There is no way its a mammal, not even a shrew would have a burrow that small, likely its been made by a beetle or other insect.

lol no worries, 2inch is inbetween the size of a wood mouse and a small rat. More likely the wood mouse though, nothing to worry about, keep an eye out and see if you can see anything.
