| | | Re: books on badger watching The books by Chris Ferris are well worth reading.
The titles are:-
The darkness is light enough.
Green eyed Flo.
Beneath the dark hill.
The badgers of Ashcroft woods.
Out of the darkness.
I got all mine from Amazon, second hand for a pound or two each.

| | | Re: books on badger watching Those look interesting, I would love to know more about our badgers, and rest assured it's only peanuts from now on, no pasta.
Had a visit last night at about 7.30pm, so peanuts are waiting. |

| | | Re: books on badger watching I will look for the Chris Ferris books, they sound very interesting, meles and badgerwatcher.
Also have just got off amazon a book by Hans Kruuk, the social badger. There is his other one but it's £25, would like to read sometime as it's more in depth, also recommended by meles |

| | | Re: books on badger watching I'll try and get it, Stripee, thanks.
They like peanut butter sandwiches by the way. (Wholemeal bread, don't bother to cut the crusts off. )

| | | Re: books on badger watching i agree about the chris ferris books - although some may find the last one (out of the darkness) a bit upsetting as it focusses more on her efforts to protect her badgers from baiters and lampers. (chris ferris is actually an alias due to her getting death threats from this charming and lovely section of society)
another good series is " the badgers of punch bowl farm" , "badger valley" etc by monica edwards.
and a third good badger book is "badgers on the highland edge" by jim crumley

| | | Re: books on badger watching Phil Drabble has also written a couple of books that are worth reading, "No badgers in my wood" being one of them. The New Naturalist monograph No 1, "The Badger" by Earnest Neal is also a good read. |

Alot has changed since. I have to admit though how he shares his experiences is amazing I would still totaly reccomend these to any avid badger spotter / highland.

| | | Re: books on badger watching My Uncle, CW Malins, wrote a charming book "the Bully and The Badger", and I'm sure Abe books would have a copy.
His virgin Bull terrier brought home a badger cub, came into milk and nursed the cub. Then the cub was returned to the wild using biscuit tins to help out the diet.
She later brought him her cubs to see.
Blue Peter even did a feature on it. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
