It really is a good reflection of the human race as a whole . Theres people frantically trying to return to lost times where the wild woods still existed and theres others who want everything controlled and nice and neat and tidy..
Surely we should learn one lesson and that is virtually all changes made by man are for the worse. Why cant we for once stop sodding about with everything and say right chaps this is where we are , Lets preserve this.... | Quite right, animals are not "little people with a furry coat", it's survival of those most fitted, not survival of the fittest, down here in East Sussex we have the Wild Boar back, I've seen the damage they can do,but I'm glad they are back.Personally, I'd say let's re-introduce everything that used to live here, those that can survive, well done, those that can't, well, we tried !.Some animals naturally invade, who can remember when the Collered Dove first came over here (we called it the Asian Pigeon), used to be everywhere, the last two years I've seen a drop in their numbers. The European Tree Frog used to be here,if I could get ETF from the Baltic States or Scandinavia I would seriously think about putting them in my pond ! |

| | | Re: Wolf Reintroduction yes or no In my opinion, we'd be better off making a jolly good job of looking after what species we have left here, than to try to reintroduce top of the food chain predator, whose surroundings would be nothing like it was when it was made extinct.
The habitat, from the very bottom of that food chain would need to be spot on, all the way up and we would need huge national parks that could keep them safe. That's not going to happen when there are so many humans on such a little island sadly.

| | | Re: Wolf Reintroduction yes or no Just a heads up. There is going to be a programme on BBC2's Natural World series on the 16 April at 8pm about the Highland estate and the animals that they have already got and the ones they hope to reintroduce. ie the wolf. Should be interesting as long as it's not to biased towards the estate.

very true, although if we could find a predator for parakeets and other over breeding introductions to our food chain

The difference is one is large and hairy the other is small and deadly however they are both living things and the reintroduction would be for our conscience and perhaps even entertainment not their well being....

| | | Re: Wolf Reintroduction yes or no DEFINATE YES to Reintoducing them back into the wild here.. But make sure it is somewhere they can hunt and live alongside us and not hounded by a few small minded Humans who think they are the only ones who have the right to live freely where they want.
