| | | Re: Largest and smallest UK mammals? I would also have thought that the Grey Seal handily outweighs any Red Deer. They're certainly the biggest UK predator and, at 2 metres long would have a claim on sheer dimensions, too. |

| | | Re: Largest and smallest UK mammals? Yes a male eastern atlantic seal can outweigh a red deer by as much as 125kg and at around 2.3m the males also outsize the red deer, however, if you are including non land mammals then the Blue Whale at over 30m and a weight of something like 150 tonnes still takes the prize.
The little old red deer is however still the largest native land mammal in the UK.

| | | Re: Largest and smallest UK mammals? If you want to see a Blue Whale, Bub-les, you might have to go offshore a bit but they are recorded from Iceland to the Cape Verde Islands. Humpback and Fin Whales have been recorded off the west coasts of England and Scotland. Smaller whales like the Minkie, around 28ft, aren't uncommon around our coasts. So just keep looking out to sea. |
