| | | Re: Controlling rats and mice with the Mouse problem i had i found the best bait in a trap was choclate and was also told Tuna but i never tried it. It did keep their numbers down in my flat but at first had to use more than one trap.
I now live in a mouse free dwelling without being woken up at three in the morning by mice gnawing bedroom floorboards or the risk of having mouse poo or wee in my food |

| | | Re: Controlling rats and mice I had sucess with the electromagnetic mouse repellent, but it won't work where there isn't wiring & it says it can take a while to work.

| | | Re: Controlling rats and mice We didn't have any success with the electromagentic device, didn't stop rats and mice living in the loft. We put small LED lights up there which went off when there was motion detected, that didn't do anything either.

| | | Re: Controlling rats and mice Hey, a good, effect and humane way to get rid of rats and mice is using electronic deterrents. I found the ones on this site Rat & mice control from £3.95 really useful and didnt have to think about it once after plugging it in. |

I know it can be stressful to rats but I will try live trapping and carefully relocating them, if that doesn't work I will have to stop feeding the birds which would be such a shame. But the rats are coming for the food, and they can climb into and up the holly hedge where we have had quite a few birds nests each year. So the rats have to go I am afraid.
I have to say these rats are a pain, but for me poison is NOT an option outside because of all the other wildlife we have (voles, mice etc).

| | | Re: Controlling rats and mice One nice way to capture a rat is by using a wooden snap trap. This is the kind we always see in cartoons and movies. Not a lot of people use this kind of trap because it can only trap one rat at a time and others just think it's low on the humanity scale because it will kill the animal painfully. If you are on the gentle side, you can use a glue board instead. These are made of wood or cardboard and are covered with enormously sticky glue. When a rat runs across it, it will get stuck. rat control |
