Here's a couple more that I entered...
I think the portrait format is my personal favourite.

I'd love to get a decent photo of a hare, but usually I just recognise them as they disappear from view! ! |
I have several places in bedfordshire where I watch Brown Hare and would be happy to show you.
At one particular spot i have had Hare so close i am unable to focus on them and although it is generally in poor evening light they are incredibly interesting to watch. The spot in mind also has pretty well guaranteed Badger, earlier had a Kestrel nesting above it and is also on a Barn Owl route.
Here is one shot of many (low resolution) I have taken.

Roy | Thanks Roy, that's kind of you to offer. Unfortunately, I can't arrange anything at the moment, but I'll PM you some time in the future. I appreciate certain times of the year will be better for it than others.
Very nice photo, btw. |

My mammal of the day was a water vole - it came so close and I was so keen to snap it that I fell backwards off my camping stool, and the photo I got was a shocked-looking brown blur! |

My mamal of the (Fri)day is a red deer fawn that kept me entertained for quite some time.
He'd wandered off and was exploring his surroundings - mainly the local birds. I think he started off being curious, then trying to approach to take a closer look. When he realised they flew away from him I could swear he started to become aware of his own power.
When he saw the heron, though, he was a little more wary before committing himself. LOL LOL It was so funny to see the stand off. In the end the heron left and he went back to mum.
Not the best of images (they won't win prizes or get published ) - I could've done with a 400/500 mm lens

| | | Re: Mammal of the day Do you know I've never ever seen a water vole? Your job sounds like an ideal opportunity to get some good shots.
OH has only ever seen one when he was a child.
We saw a mink the other week though, in our local river

Acher | Oddly enough I hardly get any photos when I am surveying - too busy looking for poo! You won't be disappointed when you do see one, they are gorgeous. Not exactly in the water vole league but a couple of pics of one of today's mammals - brown rat.
