| | | Re: Mammal of the day Well its good to see everybody having success with their MOTD well done.
At last I have somthing to post, the early morning bluebell shots wern't to good as its still a bit early for them so a quick detour to Alresford's chalk stream's proved a bit more fruitfull.
On a half mile walk 3 no. groups of . . burrows ( I bet thats incorrect ) and 4 seperate sightings of Water Voles.
One local Chap said his record sighting on this small piece of river was 10 voles in one day and also spoke of Otter activity.
Allways busy doing something, mostly eating, facinating little things and how they swim with those small paws/hands is beyond me.
Will be gong back to see them again.
Regards
Rob

| | | Re: Mammal of the day You can never have too many!
I spotted one this lunchtime in the brook by the town car park, then someone came to ask me what I was doing, and pretty soon there were three of us hanging over the railings watching this vole eat nettles.
Whereabouts was this, Rob? |

| | | Re: Mammal of the day Kate,
the river is the Alre, teeming with trout perch roach and pike, the village is Alresford, famous for watercress and the steam railway, in Hampshire about 8 miles north east of Wincheaster.
The stretch of river is between the Eel House and the Fulling Mill where the water is shallow and crystal clear and is also host to heron and kingfishers.
Its some place.
Regards
Rob
