| | | Re: Mammal of the day I normally take the deer in Richmond Park for granted as it's difficult to miss them, but today we were in one of the woods with a stream through it + it was great fun watching some hinds of Red Deer wallowing in the mud, sometimes kicking their legs up in the air as they rolled about. They all seemed to be enjoyed their communal bath. |

| | | Re: Mammal of the day Whilst riding through Lossie forest a weasel ran out and crossed the forest track in front of me, it was carrying a rodent of some description, by the time i stopped and grabbed my camera it had took refuge under a pile of dead branches before darting off through the forest floor and evading any attempt at taking it's picture. Gutted but still feel lucky to see it.
No black tip on it's tail so pretty convinced it's not a stoat. |

| | | Re: Mammal of the day Yipee! I finally managed to see some water voles at Rainham Marshes today. There were three of them swimming about and giving pretty good views, albeit often partially obscured by reeds. I thought they were predominantly nocturnal, or at least crepuscular, so I was surprised to see them out at noon on a sunny day.

| | | Re: Mammal of the day Lovely!
In my experience, water voles come out any time of the day. I've had some of my best photos in the afternoons. |

| | | Re: Mammal of the day My Mammal(s) of the Day were the group of 6 roe deer chomping at the bluebells we are trying to grow in the wood.... They looked beautiful with the sun dappling through the trees. Shame about the bluebells

| | | Re: Mammal of the day Super views of a brown hare at Elmley today. I had to zoom out to 250mm to fit him in...
Still never seen them boxing though. One day...

| | | Re: Mammal of the day My mammal of the day was two roe deer, seen from the house. Distant views in the scope but still a dream come true foe me, seeing mammalian wildlife from my own house. That after I had spent some of the afternoon at the local wildlife reserve showing people peregrine. A great wildlife day. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
