| | | beach cliff fox I am still in shock !!
After trudging around a very busy cliff-backed beach today, thoroughly fed up with the dingy weather, I growlingly stuffed my 400d back into my rucksack in disgust. A few paces later what happens ? ..... a fox came from nowhere and began to run along where the pebbles and rocks where they meet a massively highcliff It dodged shocked families with children, couples etc, diving and jumping over the small chasms amongst the rock pools and headed off towards the public car park !!
I have never got my camera out so quickly eva. The shots arn't great due to having seconds to get it in shot, I can't believe they came out at all what a fab experience. Has anyone else eva seen them in this environment ? I put some pics on, one of them gives you an idea of the setting with the car park, general public proximity etc.

| | | Re: beach cliff fox Ive been reading up on foxes and its not uncommon to find them on shore environments, or out in the day time (i imagine they are more in sync with tides than day/night) but still its a nice thing to see |

| | | Re: beach cliff fox It looks to be in great condition but under stress as if it's retreat has been cut off and forced to "run the gaunlet". They regularly follow the strand line of an ebbing tide up here around Morecambe Bay searching for washed up dead birds and other delightful morsels like rotting fish carcasses.
You did well to get those shots in a such a short time, the image of the leaping fox is lovely. |

| | | Re: beach cliff fox Used to see them regularly when I lived near to Poole Quay in Dorset. Coming home from the pub we sometimes used to walk along the shoreline, and often saw foxes doing the same thing... summer and winter. There were always lots of people around and it was well lit, but they didn't care. Well done getting the pictures, love the jumping one! |

| | | Re: beach cliff fox it was panicking poor thing, first running one way, then the other. Car park attendant said it was poss a young fox to actually run in and out of people in blind panic. We were a fair way off, just happened to have my 70-300mm lens on the camera so aimed at the small red dot and pressed. most haven't come out Even I was stunned at getting him mid jump when I got the photos onto pc lol.
thanx for all the info guys
