| | | Do Squirrels jump from tree to tree ? This may seem like a silly question, something I've never really given much thought until today. I was out and about and amongst some trees a few metres away I suddenly noticed a Squirrel do a huge leap from one tree to the other and the distance it jumped was quite big. I've never seen them do this before and seen plenty of Squirrels. It was a Grey Squirrel (no change there) but seemed a bit smaller than usual as well.

| | | Re: Do Squirrels jump from tree to tree ? Yep - they can jump quite long distances - some are more into jumping than others. If it was small it's likely a young one - they tend to jump more too. If you can try 2 dvd's - Jessica Holms -Daylight Robbery 2 & David Attenborough; Squirrels Are They Tough Enough? Both well worth watching |

Makes me realise how athletic they are. Certainly puts me to shame . The DVDs sound interesting too. Many thanks.

| | | Re: Do Squirrels jump from tree to tree ? This post reminds me - I was in Southampton last weekend, at a building on the edge of a housing estate but with woods behind and the nature was amazing.
There were magpies, a Jay (how gorgeous are they!) and 6 grey squiggles who were larking about. As well as watching their acrobatics (yup - they jump from tree to tree), there was one squiggle who would not shut up - and until then I had no idea they made noises! It was looking down into one of the house gardens and just didnt stop going on and on which had me in hysterics. 5 minutes later a cat appeared on the fence so I assume this sound was a sort of squirrel warning?
Next time I go there I'm taking my camera for sure |

| | | Re: Do Squirrels jump from tree to tree ? It's like a squeaky chirruping. First time I head one I spent ages looking for a bird in the tree until I realized the culprit was right above me (and grey and furry). | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
