Do Squirrels jump from tree to tree ?

They have different sounds for different situations - there's two alarm calls: squawking and if one starts they normally all start but some might just sit up and look and then there's sort of sharp intake of breath combined with a little squawk - which usually means it's had a narrow escape (usually from a cat) and is warning the others of a serious threat. If you hear a chatter followed by a coooeee of various lengths (you may not hear the chatter unless you're close) that's a mating call and although females only come into season once or twice a year the males seem to be fruity all year round. There's lots more but they're the main ones.
