Hi, I'm new to this site.
I live in an area that is situated right next to National Trust land and my house is totally surrounded by woodland. A few days ago I was out for a walk and over the gorse I saw a white face looking at my boyfriend and I (well he noticed it first), It was bizarre. It had massive ears and was white. It appeared to look like a dog of some kind but I would have guessed that it might have made towards us but it just stayed still. A few days later I was walking in the same area with a friend and her baby and I saw it again. I must admit that it spooked me as I had never seen anything like it and visited many sites to try and find anything on a large white mammal. Anyway, this morning I saw it streaking across the field in front of my house, grabbed my binoculars and saw it was a white fox. White from head to hind legs then it turned a peachy colour. How lovely!!!! Just wanted to share my sitings with you all. xx |

| | | Re: White Fox Hiya. It was really lovely to see. I go for a walk around the woods here nearly every day and I am always on the look out now for the white fox. If I can get a photo I'll post it on here. I too had never heard of a white fox (with the exception of arctic ones) so I am assuming its an albino (i am unsure about this though as its eyes appear to be very dark - maybe i'm being naive about albino characteristics tho). I'm from Wirral and the land around me is called Thurstaston, totally gorgeous. |

| | | Re: White Fox A very interesting siting it must have been Lemming. Although white foxes (albinos) and black foxes (melanistic) , and semi-abino (leucistic) have been recorded in this country, they are very rare occurances. Since you said it wasn't purely white it could be leucistic.
It would be great if you could get a photograph - good luck with that |

| | | Re: White Fox There has been at least one published report of an Arctic Fox being seen in the wild (in Dorset, as I recall), so don't rule that out.

henrya | I can't see it being one of these, even if it was, Arctic Foxes turn a dark brown/grey colour in the spring. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
