Hedgehogs

On my way back from the pub last night, was just about to get a burger, when I saw something small scamper along the underpass, ran down then wrestled with the prickly bushes and yup a small babe in there. Grabed walked home (short distance) weighed and 300g's. Had a quick check over and all seemed ok, nice and strong no obvious signs of injury or problems. Popped in box with alan for now, but will sort this out today would rather them be seperate as helps to know how much each is eating etc. Not sure how I am going to sort out the shed, but will think of something! Checked the box this morning and looks like a bomb has gone off!!! Think a trip to pets at home will be in order they had some nice boxes with little igloo homes in there that were quite reasonably priced, I could have a sort of stacking thing if more babes turn up!

Oh and I did go back for a burger

It`s amazing how many of these small hogs have turned up this year.Just as well you came across it considering the cold weather of late.Nice work Nicola

Yeah there are still lots about, hope everyone is keeping a look out, the fate of the little one last night wouldnt have been good if I hadnt of seen her. Just sorted the shed out, will leave her quiet for a few days and see how she gets on.

Other hog has just finished his worming course and is still putting on weight nicely, he is now in the hutch so has much more room. New hog will have a hutch next w/e after payday

Aah, they're funny things! There have been more about this year, maybe the bad weather we've had has provided them with more food?

Are there any skips near you? - it's very easy to make a hoggy box out of old woodscraps... Or you could always try batting your eyes at the local timber merchant?!

hmmmmm not sure my woodwork is up to that! I will ask around thats how I got my other one, was just going to the skip other wise. Will try that firstly, actually the paper might be worth a try too

Well Ruby isnt very well, her poo has been rancid, really really awful. She wont uncurl and is very timid. She has lost 5g's but last night managed to put on 3g's (phew). Ive started her a worming course and tomorrow she will get some baytril. Im also using some herbal remedies to help even out the balance. Lavender for stress and is very calming and some others to help with her immune system and appetite. Im quiety hopeful

Mines a bit hit or miss (sorry about that!) but is very easy, honestly! If you want I can try and draw some plans etc and email them to you? Wont be today though.

She hasn't got hold of some milk has she - that can have that effect if they have a serious allergic reaction to it? I've used baytril form time to tome but you do need to be careful with it - do a google search and you'll see what I mean. Don't know anyone your way that would help. Have you tried sending a pm to mysticmeg?

heard a bit of coughing in the night, odd cough really not sure if it was really a cough or not to be honest. She has eaten more than last night and has put on another 1g. Hopefully the panacur will kick in soon and the antibiotics as I really do not want to stress her by taking to the vets as she is only just relaxing (lavender really worked) I will give it a couple of more days. Oh the poo was much much better this morning, not green bit pale and was pleasant to sniff (am I turning mad?)
