| | Is this a red squirrel? I saw this locally and wondered if its a red squirrel - the white balance was on Shade, so I took it again with Sunny, and it seemed greyer. It was in woodland, with a shutter speed of just 1/60, so I feel justified in having used Shade. The sky was blue.
What do you think - Grey or Red?
Red?
Grey? |

| | | Re: Is this a red squirrel? i'd say a grey as the reds tend to have distinctive ear tufts. i saw a grey the other day scampering about and i swear they're getting redder!! very odd.. |

| | | Re: Is this a red squirrel? Yes indisputably a grey squirrel.
Nuttymeg some of our regular grey garden visitors develop small gingery tufts during the winter.

| | | Re: Is this a red squirrel? The photo's show a grey in the process of changing into its winter coat.
Summer coat- short brown/rusty grey.
Winter- Clear white chest, light grey, with thick white undercoat.
They are bigger than reds which are rarely confused due to the orangey/red coat unlike the one in the photo. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
