| | | Badger watching A message to anyone that can help.... At the weekend i visited a site to check up how the grass snake population was getting on. It was the first trip back for a couple of years and some new residents have moved in... There was always a good number of old rabbit warrens there but since the holes have become a whole lot bigger, i'm convinced they are badgers as i think fox's dont have so many entrance/exits and are smaller than these. I plan a dusk trip to sit and wait with my cammera and see what i get. If it is badgers is there a recomended time to go and distance to be? will they become aggresive or just not show if i'm detected? so many questions. Thanks.

| | | Re: Badger watching This may help you.
1 - Arrive well before dusk.
2 - Keep a reasonable distance away from the sett, at least 10 metres away.
3 - Position yourself so that any wind/breeze is taking your scent away from the sett.
4 - Wear dark coloured clothing that doesn't make a noise if you move.
5 - Don't wear perfume, deodorant or anything that has a strong smell.
6 - Be as quiet as possible.
And last but not least,
7 - Be prepared to wait for quite a while
Follow these steps and if your Sett is occupied you should be rewarded with good views of its inhabitants.
One other small point, be careful who you tell about the Sett, not everyone loves Badgers, unfortunately some people do have more sinister reasons for wanting to know the location of Badger setts.
Good luck and let us know how you get on. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
