| | Seals at Donna Nook Hi
Given the weather is supposed to be good this weekend I was planning to take the kids to see the seals at Donna Nook. Does anybody know if they are already pupping? |

I went there this morning (3rd Nov), and there are about 16 pups already, but a local warden said the best exspected date is Nov 24th where there should be alot more and closer.
Ive posted a few photos in the Gallery, as soon as a moderator has approved them, your wlcome to have a look.

| | | Re: Seals at Donna Nook Thanks a lot Bonehead!
I am glad we ended postponing our visit. Your photos are great, I will hope to go next weekend or the one after! it will be much more enjoyable for the children if they can see them from close.
Cheers |

| | | Re: Seals at Donna Nook Great pictures. I'm planning to go on Monday 19th with some young friends of mine and their little boy, it's the little boy's first visit, he's 2 years old, his dad and me have been every year for many years.
I would urge anyone planning to visit to avoid the weekends if possible. I know it's not always possible, but it helps to spread the load if you can. Access to the site is difficult. For those who haven't been before, it's by a 2 miles long single track road with a car park at the end that holds just 35 cars. |

| | | Re: Seals at Donna Nook Take the A153 north-wards out of Horncastle towards Louth. Turn right onto A16 Louth bypass. At first roundabout go strait ahead onto the A157 Mablethorpe road. At the next roundabout go strait ahead onto the B1200 road through Saltfleetby and then at the T-junction turn left onto the A1031 Mablethorpe-Grimsby road. Continue to North Somercoates, there turn right when you see a sign to the sea and follow these signs through the village and down a narrow single track road to a car-park next to the sea. Then the just follow the crowds. |

| | | Re: Seals at Donna Nook I've been today with a young friend of mine and his 2 years old son to see the seals at Donna Nook, we were going to go last Monday, but the forecast was for rain so we put it off until today, in the event the forecast was wrong and it turned out dry and sunny last Monday. It was also dry and sunny today but a little cold.
The little boy enjoyed the visit but we had a few tears, he wanted to go and pat the seals, but his dad wouldn't let him.
There were a lot more people there then I expected on a weekday afternoon. A warden I was talking to said that the estimate for the day until then (early afternoon) was 400. He said that the estimate for last Saturday was 4,000 and for Sunday 3,500, he said it was low last Sunday because it had rained all day.
More importantly the count of seals this morning had given figures of 195 bulls, 502 cows and 424 pups and I would think that around ½ of them were within 200 yards of the fence. |
