| | | Re: Seals at Donna Nook Fantastic pictures Mick. I wish I could take pictures like that or any good pictures of any kind. Arthritis means I have to walk or stand with the aid of a stick and I find it difficult to take a good picture holding a camera with just my left hand. |

| | | Re: Seals at Donna Nook Hi guys, hopefully going to Donna Nook tomorrow!
Can't wait but my girlfriend won't let me take my birthday present with me cause it's next week. Boooo It's the Lumix TZ3 Panasonic digital camera. It would have taking some great pictures so I'll have to take my old one.
Anyway just going to check the weather as it can get a little chilly out there. Hope it's not raining. |

| | | Re: Seals at Donna Nook Quite right too but you can understand why the little lad wanted to do it. perhaps, with forethought (that's what you talk about when you're speaking an afterthought! ), it would have been best to warn him beforehand that he would only be able to see the seals from a distance (it's like the lions in a zoo .... ).
I just hope that other visitors are being equally sensible. Quote:

I just hope that other visitors are being equally sensible. | I also hope visitors to the seals are being sensible. Three or four years ago a lady who, as I understand it, went onto the beach instead of staying behind the fence, finished up in hospital after being bitten by one of the seals.
I went with the little-one's dad last year, we didn't take the little-one, and while we were there a little lad somehow managed to get through the fence and run towards the seals, he was saved by one of the wardens jumping the fence and catching him. I saw that this year a second fence had been placed a yard inside the first, which should stop the little-ones reaching through to the seals. |

| | | Re: Seals at Donna Nook I've visited a couple of times this year - 14/11 and 1/12. The weather on the first visit was pretty grotty, with showers, loads of cloud and a very cold wind; last Saturday it was far better (still windy, but the light was great -although strong shadows were cast by fence and spectators making photography near the fence tricky). The seals were fantastic on both occasions
I'd like to go during the week to avoid the crowds (and overhearing some of their slightly irritating comments), but no chance of that with having to work. |

| | | Re: Seals at Donna Nook Have to agree with that nutmeg!
Gets way too busy for me at weekends & some people don't respect what they are seeing.
Can't have everything I suppose & It's still a great spectacle.
