It is not only your garden that needs to be friendly,Heggies need
a territory, slightly unkempt areas where they can root around and
their food can thrive with good access panel fences and walls are a
a barrier (although they are good climbers) Hedges are very good.
Food-wise Cat food fed in a heggie only fashion ,under a slab raised on bricks to deter cats , peanuts (unsalted) slugs snails worms and some special food has been mentioned on this site, only water milk is not good for them
I wish you luck sadly I have not seen any for a long while now in my garden

| | | Re: Hedgehog Great you want to encourage hogs in the garden, I do recomend you read up on them and their activites. I do have three still visiting the garden at the moment, not quite ready to sleep as yet, but many have gone off to hibernate. Whilst I love to hear of people wanting them in the garden, you have to remember they will only be there if it is hog friendly and no immediate dangers or predators. Plus if you encourage hogs it wouldnt be wise to encourage Badgers for obvious reasons, there is a lot you can do, but I would say for hogs it will be spring time when you will possibly see them.
For any wildlife though a fresh bowl of water is very welcoming in any weather. Here I have food out for hogs during winter too, as it isnt uncommon for me to get visits right up to christmas and early spring so there is always food out. At the moment they are loving Iams cat biscuits and dried meal worms, although my bank balance isnt Still to know that they get a good meal each night and have a safe warm home to sleep in, makes it all worth while.
I have rambled on I know, but I do think that is important to have some basic knowlede of at least feeding and best types of food before you feed any wildlife, a lot of info can be found on the net or library.
