| | | Re: 12 badgers in my garden-meles meles I have just been looking for the 'Green With Envy' smiley but WAB doesn't seem to have one. Go on tell us more: how often do they come, how used to you are they, how did you get the photo, etc.

| | | Re: 12 badgers in my garden-meles meles Amazing! How did you attract them in the first place?
They do look as if they are becoming reliant on you.

| | | Re: 12 badgers in my garden-meles meles That's amazing and so many. How could you not share some ? Sorry, can't help out with the pasta question but I think they've passed on the word that the cafe is good at your place. |

| | | Re: 12 badgers in my garden-meles meles You're not complaining, I presume.
With regard to putting out food; yes they can become dependent - not all but perhaps sixty per cent of them may become incapable of foraging for themselves. So certainly would encourage neighbours also to put out food (so that if you have to go away then there is another source) - also encourages them (the badgers, not the neighbours) to move around a little which is good in confusing predators like cats.
Also, try to give them a variety of foods - it's good nutritionally to do this but also, again, stops them becoming dependent on one item ...
Good luck and keep up the good work .... Quote:

| | | Re: 12 badgers in my garden-meles meles quoting kerrys post:: well they seem to be a pack so when i fed the first one they spread the word on my delicious cuisine and 12 came ..the most ive had is 13...they are not afraid anymore and some will eat out of your hand if you really wanted ...they come EVERY night and sometimes they go without my pasta but i cope with the guilt reasonably well
commander paul,my neighbors are not in favor of such lovelies hanging around their pristine gardens and often complain when seeing a legion of badgers crossing their garden on the way to get their meals ^^
