| | | Re: hedghog Hi everyone I am a new member, its surprizing how long it takes to actually put finger on keys and join in. As I have been veiwing all the different sections, I have been seeing lots of info passed around and as a fulltime wildlife carer would like to add some advice on small hedgehogs. Hedgehogs should weigh at least 1lb 1/2 (650/700gms) to survive the winter, any less than that and they will not get through.
Looking after small h/hogs o/w ie under a 1lb they should be kept in a warm enviroment, any under 6oz should have a heat pad. Hope that helps a few of you h/hog carers out there. |

At the moment we have 86 hedgehogs in, plus 2 hoglets aged about 2 1/2 wks old! We are just in the process of sorting our second lot of releasable h/hogs, those weighing over 700gms. It is alot of work, we operate 24/7 service. We deal on average 500/600 h/hogs per year, as well as birds and mammals. |
