Instant death, no cruelty involved. |

| | | Re: Rats in garden and noises in loft I don't think I could go for a spring trap, I really am too soft. Been watching the CCTV footage and I am sorry to say there at at least 3 generations of rat up there which I don't think I can deal with on my own. So I got in touch with someone who does jobs for Wildlife Trusts (eliminating pests without endangering other wildlife) and he is sorting it out. I am really not happy, infact I have to say I feel quite sick, not sure I will be able to sleep for weeks especially as I have seen the latest additions - about 4 week old babies - running round exploring, and they won't be for much longer. One thing is certain I am going to do everything I can to stop them ever coming in the loft again, I don't think I could go through this twice.
Will keep you posted

You should also bear in mind that whatever they do will be on your behalf. Turning your back and letting someone else deal with them doesn't absolve you from the responsibility.
I mention this because you should face up to the problem and deal with it decisively. Watching them on CCTV and wringing your hands won't solve the problem!
Hope it gets sorted out for you soon!

| | | Re: Rats in garden and noises in loft I know you are right of course, this problem really does have to be faced up to, still don't like it though and I will be relieved when it's done. Then rat proofing everything possible after that, although we are still not 100% how they are getting in the loft.

I've had a lead light in the loft and been surprised at the places the light escapes from. Obviously this won't show any indirect holes to the outside, but it's worth a try.
