| | | Do Hedgehog keep to a time schedule.. Funny how it sounds...but for the past week and a half a hedgehog has been coming up to the top of the garden around 8 oclock ..Last night i was getting ready to watch the visit from the Bats which also come in the garden and have a fly around ...When i looked round thinking it was just after eight must get the hedgehog food i looked in between the pots and there he was already sitting in his empty bowl...He moved away slowly and i went and put his food out he then returned. Tonight i could hear him walking behide the bushes making his way to the same spot ...food already waiting ...he took no time to get inside the dish and start on his meal ...of chicken cat food and sunflowers seeds and apple...yep the time was a few mins after eight...I have placed a hedgehog box down the garden putting some newspaper and a small amount of hay inside ...hopefully he will make this his home.

The hogs that visit us do tend to visit at the same time each evening.. I have found that the time shifts relative to the darkness / time of year but they do appear to time keep

| | | Re: Do Hedgehog keep to a time schedule.. In my experience some do some don't lol! Like you I try and remember to put the food out before it gets dark (sometimes forget) and then find hedgie has already left box and has gone for it's nightly forage, but I have on occaision found one sitting in an empty bowl looking confused lol!
I've just been to check my box and hedgie has left for the night but only had a little nibble of the food. It's all quiet here tonight considering there were 3 of them last night!
I'm sure your hedgie will love it's new box Julie! |

| | | Re: Do Hedgehog keep to a time schedule.. Im not able to keep a check on the box as such as ive put it against a wall under some bushes , you cant see it from the house but if you look between gaps you can just about see it ..Its well protected there from the elements..I do have a large wood pile at the bottom of the garden which i feel thats where he might be at the moment with a little luck he might move in. Ive read some where that if you place a little sand down infront of the door way you will be able to notice any tracks ...might do that..and about the time schedule ..i wonder what time he will arrive for dinner when the clocks go back and we say goodbye to the day light earlier...

As for the sand, You may well have read it on here, If so I think i know who may have wrote that (ermmmm)
Actualy I must go scavenge some food myself
Good luck with the new box
