| | Mole repellant Hi All,
I live in a very rural area of King's Lynn and the garden is being destroyed by Moles, I have seen an advert on the Web for an electronic mole repellant that justs presses into the soil and then the vibration that it emmits eventually drives them away, or so they claim. Before I buy one does anyone know of the success or failure of these devices.
Regards. Colin. |

Regards. Colin. | Before buying anything, hear Jasper Carrots comments on getting rid of moles. It may not help you, but it sure is funny.
With electronic gadgets, how do you know that they are working? Mechanical devices don't seem to do any good. Banging the ground may stop them for a while, until the mole gets used to it.
I tried an electronic cat and fox deterer. It only detered them while I was out there fitting new batteries and it certainly used a lot of them. |

He took a photograph a couple of weeks later of it surrounded with molehills and sent it to the manufacturers with a note saying "Your gadget doesn't work". They gave him his money back.
I believe some tests done at Aberdeen University showed that they didn't work
If moles hate vibrations so much, how come you see so many molehils on road verges?

| | | Re: Mole repellant Well I have taken the plunge and bought a solar powered one and for the last two weeks have not had a single mole hill. Fingers crossed it seems to have solved my problem.

| | | Re: Mole repellant The simplist deterrent are the bamboo poles with video tape stretched between
as long as the wind blows vibrations are sent into the soil.
The little windmill driven tapping or chopping man works as well.
Why are the moles in your garden? has their usual area flooded or been ploughed
or something similar that deprives them of food?
Start from the area furthest from the moles if you are determined to move them
and leap frog the deterrent towards them allowing them to move away and back
toward their previous territory (assuming it will support them)

I will certainly try out your method of the bamboo poles.
Thanks for the contact and the information.

| | | Re: Mole repellant I started to write this then realised the thread was a year old - I found it on google whilst looking for a mole repeller for my Mum for Christmas (I've already got one but couldn't remember where from!!!) We have had one for a few months now and is great, haven't had a problem since, and considering that this time last year my garden practically mole city, that's good enough for me! If anyone still needs one, I got mine from a company called Primrose London Advanced Solar Mole Repeller £12.95 - and I think it's even cheaper than when I got one - excellent, now I can get even more for my Mum!!! |
