| | | Hares galore!! Blimey
There were 5 in the field out the back of our house this morning! Ive never seen so many - and they were fine big healthy ones as well! The field was cut about 2 weeks ago so there is a lot of tender new growth coming through - they are most likely after that but Ive still never seen so many in one place!
Is that usual? |

| | | Hares galore!! If anyone lives in the South East and would like to see hares and possibly photograph them try booking a visit to Havergate Island through the RSPB. Birds are good but hares are even better and very photogenic! |

Milo is absolutely fine.....perhaps a little too fine.. he is getting to be quite the young gent and if I think Im getting to sleep past 6:30 (goats milk breakfast time....) Ive got another thing coming............I get thumping and pen rattling until the milk appears.......but if my hubby goes near him he actually growls his head off......
He also is taking solid food no problem but he does prefer oats and wild greens and a bit of sweet apple) to anything else. Also - as I heard fibre can be an issue Ive been giving him a little wholemeal toast to make sure he is getting some bulk in his diet. He is a fine fit young fella and as I said getting to be quite the personality! |

| | | Re: Hares galore!! The Isle of Islay does not the usual wild animals that are found on the British Mainland ie. we have no Foxes, Badgers, Squirrels,Moles or Weasels. We do however have an abundancy of Birds. We have a Stoat which is supposed to be different than the Stoat found anywhere else in the UK. We also have LOADS of hares. These animals to me are one of the most beautiful and lonely of all the British wild animals. I am told that if a Hare dies the one that takes its place on its territory will have the same colours. The old people used to say that when one is killed that it was the old crone of the village dying because of the horrific scream it gives out. Little wonder that they are the subject of folklore and superstition. |

Sounds as though he is becoming a bit of a handful now though, have you had any thoughts about weaning him and how to release him back into the wild? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
