| | | Fox release ive recently heard that there are wild life release programs involving urban foxes being captured and then released into a rural inviroment. Is this true and do such programs exsist?
if they do is it legal? As far as i am aware the fox be it rural or urban is classed as vermin and therfore can not be released after capture as for any other wild animal that is classed as vermin? |

| | | Re: Fox release urban myth - there is no need to release foxes into the countryside as the there are already large numbers there and yes you are correct that animals on the vermin register cant be rereleased legally without special licence.

| | | Re: Fox release i know by saying this i will put alot of backs up and probaly never hear the end of it in this forum but recently my brother a game keeper in south wales shot 2 foxes on his estate that where permanetly hanging around the farm complex near a phesant pen. it was evident from the way they where acting that they had very little idea of hunting and where feeding from the bins in the area. on examination he found numberd tags in their ears. so these foxes must have been captured at some point to be taged. he asked around the local area and no department he contacted new of any research going on. but did say they may have been released, but would not confirm by who or why. |

They were probably tagged maybe after being raised in a sanctuary, then released back into the wild, which is perfectly legal, only to have some moron come along and shoot them and undo all the work that was put in to save them. Pathetic individuals. |

| | | Re: Fox release i appologies to anyone that is offended
The foxes where near a pheasant pen that shortly will have a large number of young phesants released into it. my brother is simply protecting his lively hood by controling the vermin on his estate.
From the comments above it is not clear can foxes be released into the wild? if so by who? and are there any guide lines to where and when? IE should they be released onto a known keeperd estate where vermin controle is carried out? |

| | | Re: Fox release As far as I'm concerned Foxes are a part of our natural heritage and belong here. They do not have an easy time of it and are simply trying to survive. If the Pheasants were locked up properly they should have been perfectly safe. The reason they can be released is that they are native to this country and have every right to be here. What really annoys me is that they were shot to protect birds that are going to be shot. There's no logic in it. I'll never understand it. |

| | | Re: Fox release Grrrrrr I have Not been this angry in a long time
How dare someone decide that he has the right to shoot any animal. Especially the Fox that has as much right to be in the country as any HUMAN! A fox kills mostly to survive Its Instinct and nature.....Some SICK Humans just kill for Pleasure!! ( how they can say its for pleasure is beyond me!)
And for Your brothers Information before he shoots any more tagged foxes he would be wise to look at this website as Bristol University are tagging and monitoring Foxes and continuously collecting data to learn more about them. Fox information
I know HE is in wales but these could still be some of their Foxes.
There is so much more that I want to type But i dont want to be banned from WAB so I wont. ( i am soooooooooooo Angry have steam comming out of my ears!! )

This is a very cotrovertial area that can be argued endlesly i just want to know the full legal side to the release policy if there is one ? |
