| | | Re: Rabbit/hares mixi? I think there have been cases of Hares with myxomatosis reported, but I don't think any have been subjected to viral analysis, and I don't believe the disease has been proven to affect Hares.

| | | Re: Rabbit/hares mixi? I dont believe hares can catch myxi. There is a disease that is killing Hares, and that is EBHS (European Brown Hare Syndrome), i believe its similar to RHD (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease). I dont think they can catch this from one another either. |

| | | Re: Rabbit/hares mixi? Hi... A paper published in 2005 (G. Wibbelt & K. Frölich) states that it is possible for hares to contract myxomatosis if they are in an area where there is a high density of infected rabbits, although I haven't read it myself and don't know what scientific basis it has. Whether any more recent studies using molecular techniques have confirmed this or demonstrated to the contrary, I am not certain. I'll do a spot of trawling later.... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
