| | | an you help me identify some footprints, please? They're on the latest entry of my blog. Nightshade thought possibly mink, henrya thought maybe otter. There are water vole footprints in the top one to show the scale.
(Sorry, I know I posted this before but have no idea where my original thread's gone!) |

| | | Re: an you help me identify some footprints, please? hmmm tricky one, Tear drop toe prints is suggestive of mink but there is something in the splay of the toes here that is reminiscent of otter. However, I think the shape and the scale makes me lean further to the mink side of the fence
I came across these otter prints in the soft sand of the river Glaslyn they were very fresh and the sand very soft, none-the less the toes are all rounded... |

| | | Re: an you help me identify some footprints, please? These do look pretty "ottery" to me... Something about their "splattyness" that suggests a nice heavy otter. Although the wetter the substrate, the larger prints can appear. |

| | | Re: an you help me identify some footprints, please? Thanks. I found some spraint further along the brook, but the two sites are a good way apart and separated by the town centre, so it's not going to be the same animal. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
