| | | Re: black rabbit I always used to see this little chap from the hide at Durlston Country Park in Dorset. A nice change from the usual rabbits that you see. Last time I went I didn't see it unfortunately, although it might still be around and it may produce some little baby black rabbits!

| | | Re: black rabbit its funny that I noticed this thread today because I took this photo near Sandown on the Isle of Wight last Sunday!
It really stood out as I came around a corner past a field of normal coloured rabbits so I pulled over and walked back behind the hedge and managed to catch this photo.

| | | Re: black rabbit We have a colony of mixed coloured rabbits that have lived near us for years. I have seen black ones amongst them, but also white mixed colours, and theory is that dumped or escaped domestics have mixed with the native wild rabbits and bred. Not sure if this is a true assumption, but with the colour mix, rather than just the odd all black or even all white animal, I tend to think its possible. |

White ones or very light ones yes but I would think black ones would have no trouble avoiding predators..especially at night When I was surfing in Thurso (a place called Betty Hill) the campsite had lots of rabbits and I would say over half of them (maybe as much as 2 thirds) were black. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
