I was pleased to be able to grab a snap of this Water Vole on my local patch this morning. Soon the waterside vegetation will be too overgrown to see them....

You lucky dog! This is such an endangered critter. So very few people see them anymore.

Agreed wow what a fab blog! so many gorgeous photographs even of the common things, and what lovely light! I particularly like the wren singing it's heart out from the shrub and the blackbird dashing at full pelt as they do from the scrub...

My local patch is a bit of an oasis surrounded by a huge housing estate, a massive Tesco a paper mill and a water works. But, despite these pressures and the hundreds of different uses for the area it still holds some fantastic wildlife.

If someone ever tries to develop it, your blog could be invaluable ammunition.

Interestingly, the patch I blog about (though with so much less flair, alas!) stands right in the middle of town between a sawmill, a Tesco, a car park and the youth centre + swimming baths. So I know what you mean about oases.

You should, in all seriousness, be a professional photographer!
