Can anyone make anything of this image?



It's a close-up taken at home. The specimen was too far up a dying willow for me to get a habitat shot. It doesn't look in the best of health.

Well, that's a surprise; the image barely justified a response.

A good starting point as it actually reads rather well based on the little information I have (not in my 2005 Dobson). I'll try for spores today but not optimistic as it looks dessicated.

Just discovered that by reading Smith et al!

Found some spores, although they may be immature. Have to go out, will post agian later.

Hi Jenny

Here are a couple of images of asci and spores. Spores thick-walled with variously sized oil drops. Size: 15-16 x 9-13µm; perhaps a bit large for Melanelixia?
