There are several tabs on the linked page, all of which are interesting in their own right, but the "More About Lichens" tab provides a step by step guide, (described as an e-learning module), including some very useful photographs which identify various typical parts of lichens, including both macro & microscopical features.
The module also includes short videos actually showing "K" and "C" spot reactions: - A key to common lichens on trees in England - KeytoNature / Dryades

Even though it's about lichens on trees in England, I'm sure it will be a good starting point.
