Now I'm using a more appropriate blade for sections they certainly appear 'coarsely crystalline'. Is there a 'common' species I could reference showing 'finely granular' ... just to compare with!

Maybe get in touch with them if your still interested John?
If you ask nicely Frank may even sign yours too  (don't know if anyone else is as sad as me!  )
