[ID] Cladonia sp
Could it be possible for an id on this one please. This photo was taken about 2yr ago, i've just recently gone back to see if it is still there, but sadly the log has been removed

Growing on a rotten log in a boggy area...

Hi Fauna,

This is Cladonia chlorophaea - one of our most common pixie-cup Cladonias.

C. chlorophaea is really a complex of species that need chemical techniques and examination under ultra-violet light for more accurate identification, though I would guess that your photograph is C. chlorophaea in the strict sense.
