| | | Three foliose Three more foliose queries that I've been meaning to post for weeks......The first two are from opposite the dodgy milk-processing factory and the third was on an urban tree trunk.
1. On concrete post - Hyperphyscia adglutinata?
2. On trunk of ornamental tree - it was either a Malus or Prunus
3. On urban tree trunk (ornamental Sorbus), a green version of Physcia caesia? The colour was unchanged on two different wet and dry occasions. |

| | | Re: Three foliose Hi Jenny,
I fear I am not much help to you here.
I think you are right with no. 1, though when I have seen Hyperphyscia it has been more tightly appressed to the substrate surface.
Nos. 2 and 3 I don't have any immediate answers for. Will have to think ...

Unlikely habitat though - usually on pine or other very acid-barked trees. The same applies to the closely related P. hyperopta (which is ruled out here by the green soredia, though I think they are the same species anyhow). P. ambigua is very variable and I don't have any alternative suggestion. I just don't think it should be on Malus or Prunus.

| | | Re: Three foliose Hi again Alan,
Q1 Is the one below a better Hyperphyscia adglutinata? On a concrete post near the first image posted and very similar to Q3 .....
Q2 could there be anything in the discharges from the milk factory opposite that could affect the bark its on? |

| | | Re: Three foliose Jenny,
I am starting to wonder seriously if everything in this thread is Hyperphyscia adglutinata!
It would make more sense than Parmeliopsis.
I am still trying to head for bed, but maybe I'll look at some reference material tomorrow, which I need to re-photograph anyway.
