hello all,
I've been looking for a way to ID theses mosses as accurately as possible. Most of the time you need a microscope to make a valid ID and I dont have one.
All of the mosses presented in the following photographs were found in woodland in northeast Croatia, Europe (former Yugoslavia). So far, I've made a certain degree of identification on these mosses, but I'd like to consult you to be more sure (certainly you have more experience).
I use a certain bryology manual (the only one available in croatian language and it dates back to 60's) that deals with mosses in Croatia and neighbouring countries.
If you can ID the species that's great, but I'd be enormously thankful if you can come up with a genus or at least a family!
Here are my mosses:
1)

Found it on damp woodland floor.
Could it be a species of
Hypnum?
Hypnum cupressiforme?
2)

Found on a hornbeam tree (
Carpinus betulus).
A
Cirriphyllum?
3)

Very common on damp soil throughout the woods.
Almost certain it is
Polytrichum commune!
4)

Occasional. On damp soil.
Almost certain it is
Marchantia polymorpha!
5)

Common. Found on woodland floor.
Looks like a
Brachythecium?
B.rutabulum perhaps?
Any IDs or tips you can provide, I can't thank you enough!
