Lichen Question

I have a client who's garden is showing signs of lichen growing and spreading quite rapidly on his lawn. I was wondering if any of you Fungi enthusiasts know of a way of combating such a problem and how much of a problem to the lawn do you think it maybe.

I'm taking the camera next week if you need an Ident. Any help greatly appreciated

The only lichen genus I can think of which regularly grows in lawns is Peltigera. The taxonomy of this genus has recently been revised, so won't attempt to use any specific names. The RHS has a web page on it.

I think the basic answer is improve drainage or, better, develop an interest in lichenology.
