Unidentified crustose lichen

Growing on the south facing side of a stone sun-dial pedestal in my Northants garden. I've checked the picture index on the UKlichens website but could not find a match.

All help much appreciated.

hi bruce might be Lecanora muralis, any luck with your centipede

The apothecia look the wrong shape and colour for Lecanora muralis. I think it is more likely to be Xanthoria sp.

I've Googled on both suggestions and on the basis of the images I've seen so far I think perhaps Xanthoria is closer, although I haven't seen anything (yet) that is a perfect match. Trouble is that there seems to be so much variability within the same species
