| | | Re: Caterpillar ID help please. Hi Chris. I'm raking my through the Porter at the moment but this one is very hard. I'm sure someone will see it and know straight away but I'm still a Larvae Learner. I'll keep trying though! Julie

| | | Re: Caterpillar ID help please. I wondered about speckled wood Oy but my Porter book shows the lines down the back to be a lot narrower.
Chris is there a date on the picture? And was it on a flower in the garden-just it doesn't look like a wildflower? Try it from what it's consuming. Julie

| | | Re: Caterpillar ID help please. Thanks Oy & Julie; I think the flower is an Arctotis, this picture was taken at Ventnor Botanic Gardens back in June or early July (Ithink), I'll check the original later - just off to work.

| | | Re: Caterpillar ID help please. He he! One of my favourite places as a kid. I used to run around stroking the hairy palm trees there. Lots of exotic flowers as I remember too, so perhaps your caterpillar is??!!
So we've got exotic plants, the area is warm (I can also recall the gardens are on a landslip and south facing and had a greenhouse feel), Jun/July.
Back to the books. Julie
