| | | Ichneumon wasp ? Found this odd looking thing sitting on my car yeaterday - about 6mm body length. Think it's an Ichneumon wasp but it also seemed to look a bit like a flying ant.

| | | Re: Ichneumon wasp ? I can see where you-re coming from with thinking it's an Ichneumon, particularly the raised scutellum between the wings where they cross over.
LC - Is it just a Lasius niger or another flying ant sp.?

| | | Re: Ichneumon wasp ? I believe ants in the UK have 10-13 antennal segments. This looks more waspy to me - especially the waist area, although I agree it's slightly unclear whether it's a continuous narrow waist or a pair of nodes. |
