It has a new name (like lots of beetles nowadays - I wish they'd stop with it all). Anyhow - it is Stictoleptura scutellata as Dogghound rightly ID-ed it. And it is quite rare: Nationally Scarce (Na). Larvae feed on lots of broad-leaved trees (but esp. Beech) and they live 2-3 years before emerging. Adults are on the wing June-August.
It would be worth sending the record to the Longhorn beetle recording scheme run by Martin Rezjek. I cannot remember the address but google should find it.
